In one sentence

Skim is a stone-skipping game: flick a stone across the lake, steer it past logs and rocks, and tap each time it touches the water.

The longer version

A throw starts with a pull down from low on either side of the screen. A marker sweeps a bar at the top, and a flick up on the gold sends the stone out. A Perfect throw plays in slow motion, and the gold gets smaller and the marker faster as the game goes on.

Each time the stone touches down, a ring closes around it. A tap on gold is a Perfect skip, white is Good, gray is Sloppy, and a missed tap sinks the stone. Along the way there are rocks and logs to steer around, ramps for a super skip, a fire hoop for a fire boost, arcs of coins, and a bell buoy. Lily pads hold power-ups: Feather, Magnet, Double and Extra Stone.

Coins unlock new throwers and odd things to skip. The game starts with a river stone, and nine more skippers unlock with coins, including Slate, a Clam Shell, a Lost Flip-Flop, an Old 45, Someone's Phone and The Throne. The lakes loop into laps that get harder and pay more coins.
